Common Questions
Can smart lighting be retrofit into an existing home without rewiring?
In most cases yes. Most modern smart switches drop in where your existing switches are, using the same wires. Some older homes lack a neutral wire at the switch box, which we identify during the site walk. Smart bulbs are an even simpler retrofit when switch replacement is not an option.
Which smart lighting brands do you install?
Lutron Caseta, Lutron RadioRA 3, Philips Hue, and smart switches that integrate with major home automation hubs. During the consultation we match the system to your house, your budget, and what you want to do with it.
Will the lights still work if my internet goes down?
Yes. Physical switches and scheduled scenes continue to work locally on brands like Lutron. Voice control and remote app access need internet. We design systems so the basics always work even when the cloud does not.
Can guests still use the switches normally?
Every switch still works as a normal wall switch. Smart features are additive. Guests do not need to learn an app to turn a light on.
How long does a typical installation take?
A single room takes an hour or two. A whole-home system for an average home is usually a one to two day job, depending on size and wiring complexity.
